The Clean BC Go Electric Transportation Options Program (TOP) assisted BC residents with adopting other non-personal vehicle transportation options when an eligible vehicle is voluntarily retired. The program was administered and implemented through a partnership between the Province and SCRAP-IT.
TOP provided incentives for non-personal vehicle options such as electric bikes, car share, and public transportation (transit) passes.
The program is intended to reduce Greenhouse Gases (GHG) from BC’s transportation sector through the voluntary, permanent retirement of fossil fuel burning vehicles in exchange for a non-personal transportation option. The creased use of clean transportation modes and the reduction of older personal vehicles from BC roads helps to achieve BC’s GHG reduction targets. In addition, participants of the TOP realized an economic benefit through the reduction of vehicle fuel costs.Â
