The Society received funding for the BC E-Bike Rebate Program by being a successful proponent of the RFP process administered by the Ministry of Transportation & Infrastructure. The program went live on June 1, 2023.
Program partners included UBC, HUB, the District of Saanich, the City of Vernon, and the City of Kelowna.
UBC Completed a study on the program in September of 2025. A copy of Travel, Environmental, and Equity Impacts of Income-Conditioned E-Bike Rebates in British Columbia can be found here.
This program supported the Province’s CleanBC goals by encouraging a mode shift towards active transportation and public transit. E-bikes greatly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and offer a convenient alternative to replacing motor vehicle trips. E-bikes provide greater speed, convenience, and accessibility than non-assisted pedal bicycles.
